The Neat Iota Alpha II is the long-awaited successor to one of Neat Acoustics' most distinctive loudspeakers. Standing just 45cm tall, it occupies remarkably little space yet is designed to deliver the scale, bass extension and room-filling performance normally associated with considerably larger loudspeakers.

The Alpha II retains the unconventional thinking that made the original Iota Alpha so special. Its upper enclosure is angled upwards towards the listener and combines the main drive unit with a 50mm EMIT planar magnetic tweeter. Below this sits a dedicated low-frequency section employing a downward-firing bass driver, allowing this diminutive loudspeaker to produce a surprisingly full-range presentation.

The planar magnetic tweeter contributes the speed, openness and fine detail for which the Iota range is known, while the carefully integrated bass system gives music genuine weight and scale. The crossover is hand-built using premium components and point-to-point wiring, with particular attention paid to musical coherence and natural timing.

Despite its unusual architecture, the Alpha II is fundamentally about making music enjoyable. Neat develops and tunes its loudspeakers extensively by listening, and every loudspeaker is hand-built in the company's workshop in the North East of England.

Its exceptionally compact dimensions also make the Iota Alpha II particularly interesting for listeners who want a genuine floorstanding loudspeaker but don't want conventional large cabinets dominating their room. At only 20cm wide, 16cm deep and 45cm high, it is remarkably discreet.
